The uniform of a soldier is important. In addition to which country a soldier is defending, their uniform also uses colors, medals, and epaulets to indicate title or rank. In the instance of camouflage, a soldiers uniform can also mean life or death.

Camouflage was first introduced in the military as firearms grew in accuracy in the 19th Century. Weapons, such as rifles, began replacing less accurate muskets, and concealment became imperative to aid the safety of a soldier. That being said, airplanes wore camo, too. World War I German fighter planes, in fact, attempted to conceal their fuselages and wings with spots of color and geometric shapes. Today, military envoys often use camo truck accessories to cover their vehicles, as well.

More recently, however, military camo has shifted away from the traditional greens and browns to tans and browns; this is because the latter more closely matches the desert environments, which are home to many modern military conflicts.

Camouflage might have its roots in the military, but camo fashion has been turning heads for quite some time, too. The craze began in the 1980s, which some cite as a sort of patriotism. Whatever the motivation for sporting camo, consumers today can buy neon orange, pink camo, and even hot pink camouflage. (Even couture designers have created camo inspired clothing for the runway.)

In addition to camouflage clothing, there has been an insurgence in camouflage accessories, such as camouflage purses and camo truck accessories. Camo truck accessories can be anything from camo seat covers, bug shields, fender flares … there is even camo truck accessories that come in hides so that you can wrap your entire truck!
